Hello everybody. I am enjoying the forum and am new to the GPAA and gold prospecting altogether. I went out this weekend with my boy and dug up three 5 gallon buckets of material to run through my recirculating A52 and found a little color! Here are some pics.

Here is my homemade miller table

Here is my recirculating sluice and my pink pool

Great job. What size pump are you using on the sluice?

Thanks. It is a 3000 gph pump I bought at harbor freight for the sluice and a 300 gph for the water table.

Clay....gee I like the idea with the kid pool as a collection pond...that is a pretty good idea. Probably keeps the sediments easy to cleanout too! Is there many places out in Utah for gold? I happen to be going out there around SW Utah next week and was going to check the areas.

Yeah the pool works pretty good. I am just getting started so I am not sure. I have read about some good areas in the Henry Mountains and the range near St George but I have not ventured that far South yet. Everything I have found so far in central Utah is very fine gold. Once the gates open and I can get higher into the mountains I am hoping to find some coarser stuff and will let you know how it goes.

Clayton Got Color! Welcome to GPAA! Thanks for sharing your pics. I love the Pink Pool System for recirculating. Enjoy

What brought you and your son to join and want to play in the dirt?

Thanks Dominic! I have kicked the idea around for a long time but we were always hunting or fishing. Last year I bought a gold pan and started researching areas to try here in Utah and found some color so we went and got a sluice and here we are. Main reason is to find more activities to do in the outdoors, as long as my son is outside doing something he is happy.

Clayton How did you build your spray bar system for your rec. sluice? I want to build something like yours. Looking for ideas.

Hey John, I used 1 1/4" PVC a tee and 4 elbows to make a loop to get even flow. I drilled 3/8" holes staggered on 1/2" centers. I'll post a picture when I get to my computer.

John here is a picture of the spray bar and a sketch of how I drilled the holes. I thought I had a picture of the hole configuration but I dont.

I live near Roosevelt Utah and have found a little flour myself. It's hard to have the fever and only find flour. But at least we are finding some. I received the Gold cube this week and have had it out once. it gathers flour gold quite well. can't wait till it warms up a little more so I can hit a few streams in the mountains.

    Herschel,

What were you using before you got the gold cube?

Classifying to 1/16 and panning. Took a long time but it worked. Now I classify and run the gold cube. I can run 10 buckets in the time it took me to classify and pan one shovel full. Next I want to get the trommel that sits on top of it. No more classifying.
