    Not much talks about prospecting and mining in the state of Montana, thought there would be more considering its rich mining history???

    Hi Paul,

    Paul here as well! No idea why there wouldn't be much chatter about Montana as it does indeed have a rich mining history. If you'd like more info or to get together with like minded folks in that area, I highly suggest contacting one of the chapters and/or their directors directly.

    Here is a quick link to the current chapters in Montana: http://www.goldprospector...r-Directory?state=MT

    Good luck and happy prospecting!

    Try the following website;

    www.gemmmountainmt.com

    Sometimes you will get gold with the gems.

    I do not know which Montana Sapphire mine gravel you are looking for, but it is probably one of these two.

    Normally I spell something wrong but in this case it appears that they have it setup for;

    http://www.gemmountainmt.com

    You can also Google Gem Mountain too. They stockpile gravel in Philipsburg for winter time operations.

    When you visit and if your thirsty try:

    Philipsburg Brewing Company

    www.philipsburgbrewingcompany.com/

    Personally I am not a beer drinker but local micro brewers can be good I am told.

    paul glad your going to zortman. have you been there before??? the people in town are friendly  and the big dig crew is fantastic always willing to help. last fall 2014 there was a big rain and kind of a flash flood that came down alder gulch and white horse canyon the ATV trail ( directions in the guide ) was REALLY ruff and washed out in spots. i won't make the dig this year but will be there memorial day. our mining crew will be in zortman for about 2 weeks after the dig .we have a couple of claims in the area and one is by the dawg. if your around a couple of days after the dig i'll show you a different way to the dawg. you can get there with a 4x4. your right 60's aren't bad for the north country. well anyway let me know what think
