    Hi all,

I am new to prospecting, I have panned in the past and used homemade sluice boxes with little success, but I think it is time to upgrade. I am looking into buying a sluice box and could use any help and or recommendations that you might have. I will primarily be using the sluice in and around Colorado. The two sluice boxes I have been looking into lately are the 36" prospector Bazooka gold trap and the Grizzly 3 sluice. I understand that the grizzly is operated on the bank not directly in the stream or river, other than this can anyone help me with pros and cons of both of these sluice boxes?  Also are these new sluice boxes worth it, will not having to classify save me that much time and put more color in my sluice or should I stick with a traditional style sluice like a keene A52 or similar?

    Thanks,

    Phil M.

I bought the A52, 36" prospector Bazooka, and the Gold Hog Hog Pan. That way I am ready for nearly any situation. The A52 for creeks with a good flow, the Bazooka for rivers or deep creeks with a very good flow, and the Hog Pan for puddles (no flow) or bring my own tub of water. If you go with just one and you plan to use it in good flow situations then I agree you can not go wrong with the A52. All is just my opinion.

A52 works great.and when the waters not so great I even went so far as to make a recirculating power sluice with the sluice, stand, a tote style tube, and a sump pump....That gets me able to operate just about anywhere with out bending these liberal California laws.

I have 5 Sluices. I like my Martin the Best. However I have 2 Bazookas and for heavy flow I think they are hard to beat for thier intended use. If you was to get only 1 I would suggest the Keene A52 just because of the stellar reviews. If you can afford more than one get a Bazooka in the mix. Just my .02
