I'm a new member of the GPAA and currently looking into participating in a LDMA Outing in 2015. Being on the East coast of the U.S.A. it appears that Loudmine and Vein Mountain are the easiest to attend. I was wondering if anyone had any input as to which outing would be best as a first timer. Also is there any significant difference between the June Outings and the October Outings other than the weather? Are there RV's available to rent at the camps or is it camp with what you bring?

Thanks in advance for the advice

As a new LDMA member, I don't have a lot of knowledge. I did the October 2014 Vein Mountain dig and had a blast and joined the LDMA. I have had good luck up in the Vein Mountain area. I know both sites have RV hook ups but I do not think they rent RVs. I know you they both have bathhouses and great facitlities. and the caretakers are very helpful. I am looking forward to checking out Loud Mine and Occonee in the spring. I actually want to do a dig in Stanton and also maybe Italian Bar as I first started prospecting right up the hill from there.

In the mean time, welcome to the GPAA, I know I have had a great time with the people and I look forward to every get together.

    Hey David,

To answer your question on input to which Outing to attend first . . . I'd go for Loud Mine in June of '15, then rest a week and hit Vein Mountain 2 weeks later. Really just make it to anyone your schedule permits. They are a blast. The only difference between June and October is temperature and humidity.

I met Tim (response above) at Vein Mountain and it was great to watch how much fun he had doing all the different activities that a Outing has. It's not just about gold.

We do not rent trailers/RV's. Many stay in tents and utilize the bathroom and shower house.

Please call into the office and talk with myself or anyone on the Membership Services team and we will be happy to answer your questions. 877-GOLD (4653) - 717

You guys look good in that picture, especially as you all had been on the road for a couple of months by then. I still need to post the pictures of the gold, but I recovered 2 nuggets and 1.06 grams of flake gold from the "blessed" pile Scott and I split after you all left. We were at it until almost 10 that night. All the panning tips I got from you and Kevin came in handy. I am definitely doing the Vein Mountain dig in June, and if my schedule permits also will be at Loud Mine.
