Hello fellow gold fevered friends, I'm looking for a place to take the family out on a camping/prospecting trip with an RV, does anyone know of a comfortable spot within a 5 hour driving radius from Los Angeles?

    Much appreciated

Im in Socal as well and pretty new to this but the last time I went camping/prospecting with the family we ventured up to the holcom gold claim above bear lake to beat the heat in August and had a lot of fun.

The road leading up to the claim is pretty tight so I suggest staying at the a local campground around big bear lake or the more secluded Hana Flat Campground with the RV, then driving over to the claim from there if you are pulling a vehicle behind it.

We tent camped hanna flat last go around as it was our first time we didn't know what to expect. It is a nice little campground with restrooms and water available, the camp host had a very large RV there maybe we will take one next time, but make sure to check there website for max size and make reservations.

Out side of that trip I have been to 3 other claims and don't think I would take an RV to any of those.

    Hope this helps

I was staying at Edwards Air base back in 2015, and using the mining guide, traveled out to the Barstow area and found some claims. The Antelope Valley chapter GPAA was a wonderful place to start off and get more info on those desert claims.
