I am going to north Ga. in just over a week and would like to do some highbanking while there. I have been to gold and gem grubbin 5 or 6 times in the last year. Great place I always have fun and find lots of gems but never much gold. I have ran both the paydirt piles and out of the river there and just didnt find much gold. So I am looking for other places to run my highbanker in Ga. North Ga. would be best but anywhere in Ga. would be helpful and it does have to be in Ga. this trip. I am aware of the 1 in Tn. and the few in Nc. this trip has to to be Ga. . Also i am not  an LDMA member but did go to the gold show there last year. I ran my highbanker there for only about 4 hours and got more gold there than all the trips to gold and gem grubbin put together. I was told at the LDMA claim the only time I can run there without being a member is at the gold show or the outings. Again i am not knocking gold and gem grubbin in anyway the people there are great and i have had fun and found gems every time i go. I will go at least once while i am down there this trip and would recommend it for the gems. However this trip I would really like to find somewhere to run for gold too. TY for any suggestions anyone has. Also i live in Cin. Ohio and am willing to go out with anyone around here to learn or teach what i do know. When i say around here i mean anywhere within 2 to 3 hours from Cin.. I learn fast and spent the first 3 months doing nothing but panning the flour gold in this area. I have a gold hog piglet highbanker dredge combo, but only have a pump big enough to run the highbanker right now. thanks bill

north GA is a tough location. the majortiy of the area falls onto national park (chattahoochee national forest). could be open to panning but the GA DNR has designated the streams as trout streams and closed then to recreational prospecting...

when will you be in GA specifically..

I will leave the 5th but have some running to do but will be free by the 7th I hope and will be in Ga. a week at least. I also have heard rumors of a club in that area called weekend gold miners that have access to some propertys. Which i have called but have not heard anything back yet. Where you going to be in that area or do you live around there?

From what I have heard, The Weekend Goldminers have some descent properties with good gold.  You can join and get a key instantly from Crisson Mine.  You do have to join and pay it off in a lump sum or in monthly payments.

the ONLY place available to GPAA members to highbank besides the LDMA camp is the Farm Claim in Buchanan, Ga. It is listed in the mining guide under leases. all prospecting at this location has to be done in the creek, creek material only, there are no piles and no digging in the banks. No metal detecting outside the creek. All activities in main creek only no acess to feeder creeks.
There is another lease in NW Ala called Curvins Cow pasture, like the Farm Claim it is restricted to running in the creek with creek material. No digging in banks. Sometimes there might be some small piles but discharge has to be directly into the creek.
This is also listed in the mining guide.

    Hope this helps.

Crisson Mine is a pay to play location in Dahlonega that gives a GPAA discount I believe. They have highbankers, gold cubes, and trommels that can be used depending on how much cons you buy. I've always had fun and gotten descent gold there. Not the same as a free place to dig but those are next to impossible to find in north GA. Even if you were LDMA, Loudmine is shut down for renovations. Unfortunately if you can find a legal place it will probably be pan and shovel only unless you do like Paul suggests and make a drive to a GPAA property. From North GA, it would be a several hour drive probably to the Farm claim in Buchanan.
