Posted the below message on my local Craigslist to see what happens.

"Looking for anyone in the upstate area willing to let a retired veteran do some prospecting on their property that has a creek, stream, or river running thru it. I am a member of the GPAA and LDMA and am looking for property to be able to do some gold and mineral prospecting. I will clean up and take the garbage and trash I collect and get out of the water for you. Am willing to work a deal on splitting or showing what I find.

Did you know that allowing prospecting on your creek/stream is helpful to the eco-system? Prospecting in the water removes mercury and trash that get collected in the equipment used, thus better for the environment, fish, and animals that use the waters. Especially for the fish, the prospector uses equipment such as sluice, high-bankers, and dredges that run the dirt and rocks thru them cleaning the rocks and returning them to the water loosely to provide easier spawning and hide outs from larger predators. It also loosens the soil and provides aeration for the animals and plant-life in the waters, again improving habitat for the fish.

So if you willing to let me prospect on your creek let me know.

    Thank you,

    US Navy Retired"

Now to see if anyone contacts me about it. Maybe I will get lucky and find some new places to do a little digging dirt. fingers crossed.

I really like your add, but think that Craigs list will be limited for the folks you are looking for. I would run that in: Local Paper, Church News letters, What ever paper in your area that is most used for posting "legal notices". You should get an older, property holding, less of a cheap skate type prospect that way.
