New to the gpaa and to the search for gold, spent 5 days at thermal city gold mine camping and searching, found gold in the river on my own and also rented there high banker for 2 runs, also dabbled the panning trough with success, so now I'm hooked. Joined the gpaa shortly after, my biggest question is I'm from se Pennsylvania and not sure of the laws in PA regarding high banker and digging regulations here, i know NC law is dig in river two foot from water edge not sure about here. Hopefully i can find friends in PA to go out hunting with..

Joining a GPAA chapter is a great way to learn about the local rules and places to go. I belong to several chapters across the country.

Welcome Ron, everyone here is writing our new mining friendly Pres. to lift the EPA regulations and up hold the 1872 mining act. I know it doesn't apply to the east coast, but try a summer vacation in the gold rich Ca. motherlode country if you can make it happen. We need everyone to ask Mr. Trump to let us prospect for Gold without the Alt left environmental extremists trying to stop us.

Anyone wanting to get into excellent gold and take the kids or be in a nice spot....Go to the Roaring Camp Mine. You can get a cabin there or camp and you will be on the property of an actual California gold mine. You can detect, sluice, high bank whatever anywhere on the property you want to.

And know fully well that you can find good gold

Most of the top sections of the country has at one time been glaciated, glaciers moving south through most of the northern parts of the country and bringing with them gold and other ores, rocks and sediments. I was in Michigan last year visiting friends who own a cabin on the Muskegan river and offered me an opportunity to pan up some gold and within 3 inches of river bottom, I found several colors in my pan, though you or other "northern" folks do not have many claims to jump into and get the gold, it sometimes doesn't hurt to go up to a property owner and explain and ask for permission to pan on his/her property and offering them a percentage of what you find. If the area looks and is lucrative perhaps selling them on the plan of leasing their property as a pay to dig site....nevertheless, go check out the rivers and streams and head up into those mountains and get that color...good luck

I my area there's large hills , wouldn't call them mountains with large granite rocks bigger than vw bugs piled on top of each other. also the creeks are spotted with them,  was always told glaciers deposited them there, my thinking is should be gold also. would  welcome any thoughts,

    .....

Here is a picture of what glacial till can look like although it does vary. Look at the history of the area, do some searching which should give up the answers as to where the glacial occurrence originated from.
