I have the Gold Bug Pro and it works pretty good, but I took the standard coil off and now use a Fisher 10 elliptical. I still have not found any gold with it....but it does find small targets. I have dug lead birdshot...single pieces down a couple inches and other small items....But I just do not like the 19 khz operating frequency which is low compared to the Gold Bug 2 which is 71 khz.....the higher the frequency the more sensitive it is to smaller targets. I like the easy quick ground balance feature it has. I just do not yet know what the overall depth is with the machine. But that depends more on how large the target would be.

If you are wanting the best all-around detector that is also good for Nugget Shooting then possibly the most popular are the Garrett AT Gold or the Fisher Gold Bug Pro. But there are so many great choices out there! Obviousy for a Nugget Shooting VLF, the Gold Bug II but if you are asking what is best for Nugget Shooting go with a PI, either the Garrett ATX or any of the Minelabs GPX 4500 and up!
KNOWN AS: Desert Detective TYPE OF PROSPECTING: Nugget Shooter Equipment: Metal Detectors VLF: Garrett AT MAX and Garrett AT Gold PI: Garrett ATX Deepseeker

Both mentioned are great VLF detectors and between the 2 I would likely pick the GB, You can get the Gold Bug Pro with both the 10 x 5 elliptical coil and the small 6 inch for a really good price. Both can be found at my site www.nuggetshooter.com with a 10% GPAA discount as well as free shipping.

    Cheers, Bill

The original analog Goldbug and the reintroduced version were great detectors for small nuggets. I lost mine in a fire. I now use the Surfmaster

PI by Whites. It is 15 years old and still produces. It scans deep and fast.  I use it on the beech also. It picks up coins and rings right thru black magnetic sand. I have found boat anchors at 4 feet.  You just turn the two dials to the preset positions and hunt all day. No messing around with recalabration.  Just my point of view,  Frank

I deal in reality and call them as I see them. Frank
