So regarding my Gold Basin Arizona trip this month, I early on in my planning selected the Bahde 10-14 Claims out of the Claims Guide and have completely been focused on it in my research. Today I went back to make sure I hadn't missed any Claims we have in the Lost Basin. Well I didn't miss any Lost Basin Claims but I did somehow miss the Hoppy 1-4 Claims in the Gold Basin. So, now I am wondering if anyone would have any advice for someone (me) who is planning on Nugget Shooting with both a VLF and PI. Any intel on either claim area would be appreciated!

Well, I've been fairly disappointed in how little feedback I have received from my fellow GPAA Members on the Gold Basin Arizona. I had believed the area to be one of America's most popular Gold Bearing Destination for us Hobby Level Gold Prospectors, especially Nugget Hunters and Shooters like me. So I had assumed that I would get a ton of feedback from America's largest Gold Prospecting Association. With this original perception in mind... I have grown a little negative over things... THEN, I had an epiphany!!! With my original optimistic perception I had also, and stated such, worried our Gold Basin Claims had been hunted out, and in part asked directly for feedback on this. SO MAYBE I NEED TO SEE THIS LACK OF FEEDBACK AS THE GLASS HALF FULL INSTEAD OF HALF EMPTY. Obviously if there were many here who had been to the Gold Basin already, I would have gotten alot of feedback and clearly hardly anyone has gone! So perhaps it's like Virgin Ground or something. I will be filming my entire adventures and carefully recording my finds, I will be collecting specimens and documenting the Geography, Topography and Geology. Hopefully I can return and provide the kinda feedback I seek for those who follow after me. Anyways, I would love to have any level of conversation that would make my time there spent most productively should anyone who has been there care to share and comment. I originally had been focused on the Bahde Claims #10-14 but have turned my attention to the Hoppy Claims #1-4. I did invest in the Gold Basin Footprints Mapping Program which should arrive this week and I know it will give me a much better and more clear picture of these claims. But using only Google Earth I am very excited over the Hoppy... Visually the Topography looks very promising for some possible Residual Gold Sources. But I will look closer at the Geology and other signs once I get the Footprints. So any input from anyone is always welcome and appreciated!

I feel the same way. There's very little participation here by the members BECAUSE of the lack of leadership by the GPAA leaders. When the so called GPAA leaders IGNORE their own website...What can you say? Well... You can say..."If the GPAA leaders don't bother to participate, then why would the members participate" It's called cause and effect.

I will say the GPAA leadership is a disgrace. Brandon ignores the GPAA website...And I feel George Massie would be absolutely be disgusted with Brandon's lack of leadership

This is very simple...Brandon puts zero (O) effort into participating in the GPAA website...So it's discouraging, and people get bummed out...New folks get frustrated...And leave.

Everyone needs to file a complaint with Tom Massie about ALL of this....No participation by the GPAA leaders...No on-line guide...That's a disgrace

Brandon...I dare you to post something here... Anything. Grow up Brandon...Brandon, you are disrespecting all the hard work your Grandfather did for the GPAA.

All members MUST tell Tom Massie what's going on here...Please contact Tom Massie and demand change, and demand action...Or I will stop renewing my GPAA membership...Make Tom Massie understand that...People will not renew their GPAA membership because of Brandon"

    Adam:

Do you know Brandon or much about him? Yesterday I actually ran into a video on YouTube with him in it. The actual host was Shannon Poe, President of the AMRA and Brandon had joined him while doing the video on Chasing a Lode Vein. Brandon didn't say much at all even though he was with him the whole time. A very quite young man. Shannon in the end commented on Brandon's disposition, reassuring the audience that Brandon is a very knowledgeable and experienced miner, even if it didn't seem like it LOL... So my thought is this... Perhaps Brandon is very quiet, not very social by nature and the social media format just isn't his thing. I don't know if we need Brandon to be on here... We do need more activity for sure. I already gave my 2 cents on what I thought could help in another thread so no need to keep rehashing it. Hopefully, the powers that be in our leadership will make the changes needed to increase membership activity here but I personally don't feel it's necessary to have the leadership here on the forums. Experts and Many Members yes, but they can figure out who that will be and make it so hopefully.

AMRA is a great organization and I would urge all to join if you can. They also have great claims as well....... Shannon is very helpful and willing to speak as well. You can always see him at the GPAA show in Vegas in the spring, well worth the time.

Shane, I watched that video, and he looked like someone who doesn't have any leadership qualities at all...What I do know about Brandon is...He has zero (O) motivation to participate in the GPAA website...He doesn't post anything. 43 posts? Hmm? Brandon doesn't rally everybody to actually DO something to save the GPAA...He's hiding in the shadows, he doesn't welcome the newbees, he hasn't got the on-line guide up and running. He doesn't do anything to show that he cares about what's happening here.

Brandon...The USS GPAA is sinking...Do something...Say something...Post something...You just sit back and we see NO action, no leadership, no passion...Grow up Brandon, or turn it over to someone with the passion to act and save the GPAA

Brandon collects and spends OUR membership dues, and returns nothing. It is truly a disgrace. Maybe when Gold Prospecting becomes illegal because the GPAA sits back and does nothing...And they run out of money...Maybe, just maybe, they might actually do something. What a disgrace.

Lost Basin area is at the Bahde 17 & 18. I do not have any reports that denote one claim over another in this area. I would suggest talking to the Las Vegas Chapter as they frequent these claims a lot.

    Walter,

I figured as much with the Vegas Chapter but unfortunately I am not close enough to participate in their meetings to meet their requirements. So worries... I am close enough to going now, I am preparing to conquer it with only my own preparation and raw research. So I did notice that the Bahde 17-18 were at least near it if not there, and perhaps those are the claims I have seen others refer to. My only doubt was in that the consensus out there reports that the Lost Basin is where the largest nuggets have most recently been found in the highest volume compared to the Gold Basin but the Bahde 17 & 18 reports show only powder and flake gold there. So... Not sure what to think.
