For Sale: Beach Lode Mineral survey # 17954 patented mining claim

Lode claim of 4.311+/- acres of steep, rocky land, on the east side above the old townsite of Eureka, high above the Animas River in the heart of the San Juan Mountains of central Colorado.

The claim was originally staked by Charles Baker, who, in 1860, lead a group of prospectors into the San Juan mountains and discovered traces of placer gold in the area. Nothing remains of Eureka except for the foundations of some buildings and the ruins of the Sunnyside Mill

To access the claim you will need to park at the camp grounds in Eureka and hike and climb up to the claim. There are no roads up to the claim. A portion of Niagara Creek runs through  a corner of the claim.

    SOLD October 2015!!!!

I'm assuming this is a lode claim?  I didn't find any info on placer gold in Eureka.

That is correct. This is a lode claim.

According to info I've found on the internet, "... at Eureka (Cement Creek, Mineral Creek, and Animas Forks), the Eureka district had a total production of at least 500,000 gold ounces through 1959. The area base metal mines produced by-product gold. Beyond Eureka, the Sunnyside and Cold King mines, 8.1 miles northeast of Silverton produced gold in sulfides."

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

No information on it other than it sold a year and a half ago, as per the OP's edited post.
