    I am a new member of GPAA and new to prospecting.  It has been on my bucket list for a lot of years and I guess my wife decided it was time for me to actually do it.  I have talked about it and discussed it so she bought some stuff that we had talked about, a blue bowl, classifier screens, a RDH 6" power sluice and assorted other pieces of equipment.

    My question for now is what size material (max screen) should you run through this RDH mini power sluice?  It is set up for recirculating and I am planning a trip to Tucson, Az in Oct or Nov (once it is a bit cooler).

    I have a buddy in Tucson who will be going with me and he has about as much experience as I do .

    Welcome Lloyd,

    Not knowing water flows
    I would at least classify to 1/8", do you expect to see nuggets 1/8", maybe smaller
    The more time you classify, the less time to dig
    Another thing you will deal with is dirty water quick
    Plan some sort of water settling buckets, trough or something to allow dirt and things to settle out
    before running through the box again
    Change water when it gets thick and heavy

    The more you get out the more experience you get. we all started the same way

    William pretty much said what needs to be said .and set up some kind of filter system so you can get the grass and roots from getting into your pumps and water system .that is a very common problem out there.

    one more thing it will take about 1 gallon of water for every 5 gallon of dry dirt.That is if you run in the desert.It is a way to figure out how much water you need.
