LANCASTER, Calif. - Two Southern California residents were grand prize winners of Alaska Expedition trips at the Gold Prospectors Association of America Gold Show on Jan. 16-17. GPAA members Williams C. Patton of Torrance and Connie Hastings of Palmdale won separate drawings at the conclusion of events Saturday and Sunday.

The first GPAA Gold Show of 2010 got off to a successful start Saturday with over 1,000 people attending the two-day event at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. Tom and Cindy Massie and family were on-hand to meet the vendors and customers while taking the time to pose for photos and sign autographs.

Public Lands for the People (PLP) was also in attendance to answer questions about the suction dredging moratorium in California and the prognosis for the future of dredging in the state.

If you missed the Lancaster show, there are plenty of opportunities to attend in the future. February GPAA Gold Shows are scheduled for Feb. 6-7 in Boise, Idaho; Feb. 13-14 in Phoenix, Ariz., and Feb. 20-21 in Fresno, Calif.
