Greetings from Cripple River Gold Camp!!! We are all waiting for our hot, sun-shiny weather to return. It has been cool and rainy off and on for a few days. Yesterday the wind blew so hard, the Bering Sea, normally a beautiful blue, was the color of hot chocolate with whipped cream-colored breakers (but the water temperature was only 52 degrees).

Greeting from the Cripple River Gold Camp! The weather has been cooler with scattered rain showers. Yesterday evening, while the sun was still high in the sky, the camp enjoyed seeing a magnificent example of a double rainbow. In the clear, clean air of Alaska the colors of the rainbow seemed to glow in sharp contrast to the blue/gray sky.

Greetings from Cripple River! Yesterday at the 8 a.m. morning miner’s meeting there was a small difference of opinion as to the desired weather for this week. Marvin Rapose, Camp Manager wanted more days of sunshine. Perry Massie, who you all know, wanted a little rain.

Greetings from Cripple River! The weather has been fantastic, hot and sunny, with a breeze to chase away those pesky mosquitoes. Many prospectors are running around sporting mild sunburns. I kid you not. It seems they forgot to bring sunscreen.

Saturday was a sad day as everyone in camp gathered to honor and say a final farewell to Wilma Massie (1939-2003), a truly great woman and co-founder of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, and the Cripple River Gold Camp.

Greetings from the Cripple River gold camp! I am so excited and happy to be here, words cannot describe my joy! We’re off to a great start on the prospecting season this year. Our camp has undergone several much needed improvements. The Grizzly Bear Chow Hall, which is really the heart of the camp, has been enlarged with a new addition and lots of windows making it larger and brighter.
