Greetings from Cripple River! This year has definitely been a year of extremes, especially here at the Cripple River Gold Camp. This summer the weather was hot and dry, except for one week of cool weather and light rain, making it perfect for most mining.

Cripple River Gold Camp is happily singing the ‘blues’. Many people are taking a short break from gold mining and heading to the hills to pick blueberries. This year the crop of berries is good. Perry Massie again took a group on a day trip to the trommel to run high-bankers. On the trail he stopped to let everyone take a short break and pick blueberries.

Weldon Webb and his beach box partner Lynda Knott were happy and surprised when they mined a small pocket of ”pickers” Monday evening and Tuesday. The first small nugget was seen late Monday on the black mat of the beach box. Excited, they continued running the black sands from the same area Tuesday, and more little “nuggets” were found.

People are still talking about what maybe is the greatest toilet paper caper in Camp Cripple River’s history. Earlier this week Donna Fairless, who with her husband Richard runs the Ketchmark camp, noticed that the toilet paper supply was seriously depleted.

Greetings from The Cripple River Gold Camp! The flower season is upon us. The Tundra outside of camp is bursting with color, and many of these flowers are only seen in the Artic. With the sun shining almost 24 hours a day, greenery really shoots up fast in Alaska.

Greetings from The Cripple River Gold Camp! It has been a very busy week, with our camp humming with activity. The weather turned rainy with some cool, light winds blowing, and the Bering Sea had some nice whitecaps and breaking waves. It was mentioned that if you had a wet suit and a surfboard you could “Hang Ten” easily.

Greetings from Cripple River Camp, 12 miles west of Nome Alaska! The camp has been really jumping recently as we are getting ready for a summer of fun and prospecting. The weather has been BEAUTIFUL. Most days are warm (up to 72 degrees) and the sun is shining.
