Bill, your description doesn't sound right to me. The Golden Schneider claim is fairly level with a good 2X4 road running along the stream. Better recheck your coordinates.

The only parking was along the road. The best parking spot for our 21' RV van was about 100 yards down from / NE of the claim center point. That is, we parked at N39°54′49.96″ W121°4′0.01″
From the parking space we headed down the slope, and proceeded, winding about 20 yards through some trees branches to a path that runs along the near side of the creek here. About 100 yards up the creek, you should be able to spot where the river flows over a large area of bedrock. I found good gold here!

Very steep — 2x4 or 4x4

The road to your parking point is really nice. I got out and looked down to the creek. Yikes. Very steep. I drove down the road a couple hundred feet and found a little easier way down, not as steep. The placards marking the claim, and not just this one, don't mention gpaa. The name Jeffrey William benik is on it. I saw a couple other claims with no mention of gpaa. Anyways I think the most plausible way to get equipment down and up would be a plastic snow toboggan on a rope.
