GPAA SACRAMENTO CHAPTER RIVER CITY PROSPECTORS
MINERS MEETING NOTICE!!!
SATURDAY July 18th, 2015
10:00 AT THE AMERICAN LEGION HALL ON 8TH ST, JUST SOUTH OF M ST IN RIO LINDA CA
If you are not on FaceBook (River City Prospectors GPAA), you are not up to date on what has been happening. It's difficult to post on email the rapid changes occurring in the litigation over Dredging!
As you may know, Judge Ochoa denied the miners request for injunctive relief, directing the Fish and Game to cease and desist issuing citations and confiscating dredge equipment. This is very disappointing. He felt that since most miners are doing it “recreationally” there was no real impact to their finances! Oh boy, that is sad, really sad. He did release the minors who had been cited from his court on this issue and encouraged them to seek injunctive relief in their county court jurisdictions. He also felt they had a good case individually, but was not going to make the ruling for the whole state.
He also stated that since the California Supreme Court had taken up the review of Federal Preemption, a win from the Rhinehart case, that all our work to get that decision “Published” is now reversed. So, the Preemption decision of the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals is on hold and he cannot use it in his decisions. So, we wait. How long, I do not know. The natives are getting restless, and there is the talk of a “Dredge In” in the works. Again, if you're not on FaceBook, get a 10-year-old to help you set up an account and at least join the mining group pages even if you ADD no individuals or anything else!
So, it’s July and time for our GPAA/Roseville Rock Rollers joint field trip to Duncan Canyon! The write up is attached. Please read the instructions so as to be perfectly prepared for this trip. This is not a Dude Ranch, it’s a small-scale working gold operation in the wilds of the forest! If you have any questions about this trip call me! If your ar concerned about your ability to make the hike in and out, I say this. Give it a try, be perfectly willing to stop, look back up the trail, and make a rational decision if it is smart to go on in. Nothing says you cannot enjoy the trip to the trailhead, and then go explore the Redwood Grove nearby and checking out the forest around!
As in the past, John Hully, our Treasurer will be setting up the Duncan Grill at the top of the trail. He will have Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and chips as a reward for surviving the trip! John will also be providing a briefing on hydration and heat stroke prevention at the July meeting! We expect the weather to be reasonable this year, in the mid-80s at the claim!
Please step up and support the folks at Pioneer Mining Supply in Auburn, Black Sheep Mining off of Fulton Ave. in Sacramento, Dave at Lost Sierra Mining Co., and Big Mountain Mining in Sierra County. We need to keep these outlets close by and open. I can’t stand waiting for UPS to bring me parts and toys!
Remember to mention the Sacramento Chapter on your renewal membership to the GPAA and any folks you know that are joining due to your influence. We do have about three membership kits we can sell directly to a new “wanna be” member at the meeting, see John Hully.
