If you are challenged by a government representative or public servant while prospecting, you should do the following:
1. Politely ask if you are breaking any laws. If you are, then ask for an explanation of the law and any municipal code that may pertain to that law.
2. You should do as you are told by the government representative, then ask for his/her name, badge number, position and the agency and district he/she represents. Record this informative along with the date, time and your location.
3. If you have a pleasant response from any of the agents, such as being informative, cooperative or helpful, we would like to hear about them.
4. Give this information to your local PLP (Public Lands for the People) representative and he/she will advise you of the appropriate procedure to follow.
The mission of PLP is to represent all types of outdoor user groups that are interested in keeping public and private lands open for the purpose of mining, timber, grazing and all forms of recreation on a non-discriminatory basis.
