GPAA rides out the storm

A storm of epic proportion ripped the coast of Alaska, including Nome and the GPAA Cripple River Camp in November. It was called the worst storm to hit Alaska in years. The combination of high surf, wind and snow is unlike anything Nome has seen since 1974. The GPAA sympathizes with the people of Nome whose homes and business were flooded and damaged. The good news is that there were no reported deaths or injuries from the storm and most of the camp remains intact. The GPAA wants to ensure members that the popular Cripple River Camp will be fully repaired and ready for the Alaska Gold Expedition this summer.

Sale on airfare to Alaska extended

If you’ve been dreaming of the gold laden Beach in Nome, Alaska, now is your prime time to register for the GPAA 2012 Alaska Gold Expedition.

“No more regrets for not booking earlier and no more waiting until next year. This is your year!,” said GPAA Event Manager Amber White.

For the first time ever, these discounted rates are being offered exclusively to our GPAA & LDMA members. The GPAA has arranged discounted fares on flights to Nome between the dates of June 1, 2012 and August 20, 2012. You have one last opportunity to take advantage of these low prices before airfare goes sky-high.

Keeping up with chapter growth

Over the past year, the number of local chapters have been growing strong. We have added 23 new chapters since the end of May and have 41 more chapters out there waiting to get started. It has definitely been an exciting year. Note that in Gold Prospectors Magazine, there are now three pages of listings for chapters instead of the original two pages. I try to call local GPAA chapters every so often to touch base, and I am getting a few disconnected numbers and some of the emails are coming back as undeliverable. I would like to ask that all Chapters to please send me an email with their current contact information so we can update the listings in Gold Prospectors Magazine, the Pick & Shovel Gazette and the GPAA website. You can update your chapters information by emailing gpaachapters@goldprospectors.org
