Cooler climes can’t quell the fever
As the weather begins to cool off, gold fever continues to rise. Many GPAA members begin to migrate south towards warmer pastures and desert prospecting seems to be a bearable activity once again. Others begin to plan time off of work to go on a family prospecting adventure. Members from across the country will cross paths this winter and new friends will be made. Claims have been added all over the country this year and many of them are accessible year round! Don’t let the end of summer get you down! Grab your Mining Guide and Pick & Shovel Gazette and find some yellow flakes this fall!

2012 GPAA Calendar Photo Contest winners announced
The long wait for the 2012 GPAA Calendar photo contest results is now over. It was a hard job to pick the winning pictures because there were so many that we liked. The whole GPAA staff was involved in the process of choosing the winning photos. I want to thank everyone who participated. Thanks to your photographs, I believe this is our best calendar to date.
Some of the pictures that weren’t chosen were put on the Member’s Page in the Nov/Dec issue of Gold Prospectors Magazine. So, if you don’t see your picture in the new calendar, check out that issue. Your photo may be in it.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy the new calendar as much as we enjoyed making it.

Gold prospectors head for Angeles National Forest hills
